Your Places is a feature within Family Locator that uses geofencing technology. That means it acts as a virtual fence that helps you keep track of where your kids are. This is possible by setting pre-defined zones (Your Places) for your family. You will then be notified whenever a family member enters or leaves a pre-defined zone.
How do I set my places?
There are 2 ways to set Your Places.
From the Family View within Family Locator, simply tap the location icon and enter the address of the location you would like to add.
From a child's Location History, you can select any recently reported location and add it directly to Your Places.
How do I manage notifications?
Once you've added a place, you'll automatically be notified whenever your kids enter or leave that place. If you decide you no longer wish to receive notifications, you can simply remove the place from Your Places, and you will stop receiving push notifications on your kids' movements to and from that place.
Why do I not see Family Locator on my Computer?
Family Locator is currently only available to use on the Parents’ App which you can easily install on your mobile or tablet. Download it now on Google Play or App Store.
Why aren’t my children’s locations updating?
To use Your Places, make sure all of your devices are running the latest version of Qustodio and that all geolocation settings are correctly configured.
Use the checklist below to double check if your kids' devices are set up correctly:
Android devices
- Location permission = ON
- Location services = ON
- Battery saver = OFF
- Data limit = OFF
- Airplane mode = OFF
iOS (Apple) devices
- Share my location = ON
- Location services = Always
- Airplane mode = OFF
Please note: iOS and Android operating systems will routinely notify you when Qustodio is using your location and ask if you wish to continue doing so. Make sure your children always choose one of the options below in order for the Your Places feature to work:
For iOS devices:
Select the Always option for sharing your location.
Important: starting from iOS 14, please go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Qustodio and make sure to switch Precise Location on so that the device reports accurate location. |
For Android devices:
Depending on the version of Android you’re running, select Allow all the time or Allow.
If any other option is selected, the iOS or Android device will stop sending location information to Qustodio. If this happens, you won't be notified when your kids enter or leave one of Your Places with their devices.
Each Qustodio user profile is unique, so your system might need additional troubleshooting. If you’re experiencing issues with Your Places, please contact our Customer Support Team and provide us with more information.
