How to prevent Qustodio from being removed with Qustodio Advance for iOS

  • Updated

Qustodio Advance for iOS is a desktop app that ensures your child can’t remove Qustodio from their iOS devices.

Before you start the process, make sure to turn off 'Find My iPhone' on the device. You can turn it back on again after you finish the process.

We also recommend backing up the device (including Apple Music) before starting the process.

What do I need to get started?

To set up Qustodio Advance, you’ll need:

  • Your child’s iPhone or iPad. It must be running iOS 15 or above and already be protected with Qustodio.
  • Your own computer. If you are using a Mac, it must be running macOS 10.15 Catalina or above. If you are using Windows, it must be Windows 10 or above.
  • A cable to connect your child’s device with your computer
  • Internet access

Setup takes just a couple of minutes. Once done, you won’t have to connect the device with a cable again.

I’ve removed my child’s device from my Parents App but it shows “Supervised and managed by Qustodio” in the device settings

We recommend reinstalling the Kids App and Qustodio Advance on the device, and then uninstalling Qustodio Advance once again. If you have any questions, please contact Customer Support: click here if you have Qustodio Premium and here if you have Qustodio Free.

Why can’t I see all my devices on Qustodio Advance?

The homepage of Qustodio Advance for iOS shows a list of the iOS devices you have protected with the Qustodio Kids App. As Qustodio Advance is for iOS devices, you won’t see any other device types on the list.

If there are any iOS devices you expect to see in the list but don’t, it could be for a few reasons:

  • The Kids App has not been fully installed on the device
  • The Kids App has been tampered or removed from the device
  • The device hasn’t been assigned to a profile
  • The Kids App is not up to date
  • The device is not running on iOS 15 or later

Ensure that the device has the latest version of the Kids App installed on iOS 15 or later, that all permissions are enabled, and that it is assigned to a profile.

The Qustodio Advance app doesn’t recognize my child’s device

Ensure that the cable connecting your child’s device to your computer is working properly and, if possible, connect it directly to your computer without an adaptor. Try a different cable if this does not help.

Check if there are any software updates available for your computer as newer versions may fix the issue.
